05.02.2008 Turnover of Viciunai Baltic grew to 205.5 million kroons in 2007 The turnover of Viciunai Baltic OÜ, company that provides sales and logistical services of frozen and cooled foodstuffs, amounted to 205.5 million kroons in 2007, growing by 13 per cent in a year. The enterprise’s unaudited earnings amounted to 13.6 million kroons, growing by 56 per cent in a year. "The growth in sales was secured by the launch of new products that are the result of product development in the Vichiunai Group and the updating of packages," said the CEO of Viciunai Baltic OÜ Urmas Karnö. "The growth in sales of our products has been helped by the general growth in retail sales as well as by expansion of store chains across Estonia which makes our frozen and cooled products more available to a greater number of consumers," added Karnö. According to Urmas Karnö the growth in turnover has been helped by the launch of several new products. "In 2007 we brought on the market 27 new product brands. I would particularly like to point out the surimi-delicatessen in oil, breaded squid portions with cheese-herb sauce, cold smoked salmon and surimi salads with tuna fish," said Karnö. "The products with the VICI and ESVA brands are appreciated in Estonia. Our success in sales is certainly helped by the change in Estonians' eating habits - quickly prepared and ready-to-eat products are increasingly the preferred choice for consumers," said the distribution manager of Viciunai Baltic OÜ Erge Kalbus. "The sales of herring as well as of surimi products have grown; same goes for the sales of pizzas, pancakes and ready-to-eat meals. The sales of surimi salads have grown particularly noticeably," added Kalbus. The product portfolio of Viciunai Baltic was supplemented by such internationally renowned and high-quality brands as the Nestle ice-creams, Dujardin's frozen vegetables, McCain`s potatoes. Viciunai Baltic OÜ was established in 2000, in order to foremost provide services for selling and distributing the products of Vichiunai Group in Estonia. The enterprise's product variety includes approximately 450 frozen and cooled products. In addition to the products from the group's own plants, the company also deals with selling and distributing other frozen foodstuffs – for example, frozen vegetables, French fries, ice-creams, tinned fish etc. Viciunai Baltic OÜ, enterprise that provides wholesale and logistics services of frozen and cooled foodstuffs is a part of the foodstuffs industry group Vichiunai Group. There are 54 persons working in the company. Another subsidiary of Vichiunai Group in Estonia is AS Paljassaare Kalatööstus, an enterprise that produces breaded fish and vegetable products, fish-based ready-to-eat meals as well as pizzas and pancakes.
